Chania’s Municipal Gallery is a must-visit destination for all art and culture enthusiasts!
At Lotos Old Town Apartments, art and culture are highly valued.
The owners are not only artists themselves, but they also have a deep appreciation for the arts.
They highly recommend a visit to Chania’s Municipal Gallery, where you can admire exquisite works from both global and local artists dating back to the 18th century.

The Municipal Gallery in Chania is much more than just a showcase for its permanent collection. Throughout the year, it hosts a diverse array of exhibitions, talks, workshops, and educational programs, making it a vibrant center for cultural creation. Furthermore, the gallery plays a vital role in the city’s publishing industry, exemplifying its commitment to fostering a thriving arts community.
Located at the beginning of Halidon Street, the Koundouros Palace stands as a stunning example of Neoclassical Greek architecture, popular during the late 19th and early 20th centuries for commercial and industrial buildings.
Dating back to 1910, this three-story structure serves as the perfect home for Chania’s Municipal Gallery.

In early 2003, following a round of renovations, the Gallery unlocked its doors to the public. The revamped interior, crafted with a fusion of metal and wood, is nothing short of spectacular. The collection boasts over 700 masterful paintings and engravings from renowned Greek artists such as Andreas Georgiadis, Spyros Vassilios, Dimitris Galanis, Vasso Katraki, Spyridon Vikatos, Dimitris Mytaras and also other several artists.
