In the village of Ano Vouves, we will have the opportunity to admire the oldest recorded fruit-bearing olive tree in the world, which has been declared a natural monument. This visit will bring us closer to the history and tradition of Cretan olive cultivation.

Visit to a Local Bakery

We start our day with a visit to a traditional Cretan bakery. Here, we will have the chance to see the process of making Cretan traditional baked goods such as paximadia (rusk) and bread. We will learn the secrets of the local bakers and taste fresh products straight from the oven.

Visit to a Traditional Cheese Dairy

Next, we visit a multi-award-winning traditional cheese dairy. If the season allows, we will observe the cheese-making process up close. If not, our guide will thoroughly explain the stages of making Cretan cheeses. Naturally, we will not miss out on a tasting session where we will enjoy the superior quality of local cheeses.

Tour of an Olive Grove and Visit to an Olive Mill

We then head to a beautiful olive grove where we will learn about the cultivation of olive trees and their significance in Cretan culture. After the tour, we will visit an olive mill to see the extraction and production process of extra virgin olive oil. We will learn about the characteristics of Cretan olive oil and have the opportunity to taste it.

Cretan Honey Tasting

Next, we will discover the flavors of Cretan honey. We will learn about the different varieties of honey produced in Crete, their unique characteristics, and sample various flavors, enjoying the sweetness of Cretan nature.

Visit to a Winery

Our next stop is a family winery, the Pnevmatikakis Winery in Kissamos. We will explore the local varieties of Cretan grapes and learn about the wine production process. Our visit will conclude with an exquisite tasting of the winery’s wines.

Visit to a Beach

After our departure from the Pnevmatikakis Winery, we will head to a nearby beach to end our rich and wonderful day with relaxation by the sea.
